To strengthen logistics chains between Lithuania and Poland, LTG Cargo, a member of the LTG Group specializing in rail freight transport, established a subsidiary in Poland five years ago: LTG Cargo Polska. Today, this subsidiary has become a key player in the intermodal transport market, facilitating the efficient movement of goods between Western Europe and Lithuania.
“The Polish subsidiary of LTG Cargo competes successfully in a market served by dozens of rail carriers,” says Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo. “LTG Cargo Polska enables us to undertake major international rail projects, such as transporting new cars from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as new wagons from Ukraine. Together, we are gaining valuable experience within the European rail network—experience that will prove essential when the Baltic countries are connected by Rail Baltica.”
Laimonas Nekrošius, CEO of LTG Cargo Polska, emphasizes the company’s commitment to growth and efficiency: “Over the years, we have climbed to sixth place in the intermodal transport market. With a steadily expanding customer base across both intermodal and bulk cargo segments, we continuously strive to deliver services that meet and exceed expectations. Our increasing market share reflects our flexibility, efficiency, and competitive edge—benefits that our customers deeply appreciate.”
LTG Cargo Polska provides rail freight services to Cedrob, one of Poland’s largest food companies, and is actively developing partnerships with UZ Cargo Poland, CFL Cargo, the Spedcont terminal in Łódź, among others.
In the past year, the number of trains operated by LTG Cargo Polska rose by one third—from 1,715 in 2023 to 2,329 freight trains—and the volume of transported cargo reached 924 million tonne-kilometers, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous year.
Currently, LTG Cargo Polska employs 120 people and maintains offices in Warsaw and Katowice. The company operates a fleet of over 350 wagons and 28 locomotives across the European rail network, including state-of-the-art Siemens locomotives capable of efficiently handling international cargo routes. Additionally, LTG Cargo Polska is expanding its forwarding services in Poland, offering semi-trailer and container transport solutions.
As part of the LTG Group, LTG Cargo is committed to further integration and expansion in Western markets. The group provides comprehensive freight transport, logistics, and forwarding services, along with cargo loading, locomotive and wagon repairs, and wagon rentals both in Lithuania and internationally. LTG Cargo also manages its subsidiaries LTG Cargo Polska in Poland and LTG Cargo Ukraine in Ukraine.
