LTG Cargo Polska, a rail freight carrier that is part of the LTG Group, has purchased 72 new pocket wagons for container transport and pocket wagon semi-trailers for container and semi-trailer transport.
The project “Purchase of 72 wagons for intermodal connections” intended for intermodal transport, No. KPOD.09.09-IW.02-0018/24-00″ as part of Investment: E2.1.3. Intermodal transport is co-financed by the European Union in the form of public aid under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
“On the Polish intermodal transport market, in a competitive environment with over forty carriers, LTG Cargo Polska has managed to strengthen its position and has risen to sixth place on the intermodal transport market. As we continue to focus on increasing operational efficiency and growth, the acquisition of our own rolling stock is an important step. With the new wagons, we will be able to offer sustainable, efficient, and high-quality freight transfer services to Western Europe – from road to rail,” says Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo.
Following the announcement of the tender in the summer, a contract for the production of pocket wagons was signed with the Bulgarian company Kolowag. According to Laimonas Nekrošius, president of LTG Cargo Polska, the new pocket wagons will be used on the intermodal route between Kaunas and Duisburg, which since June also includes a stop at the large logistics hub in Łódź.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to provide better services to our customers, and in order to purchase new wagons, we have applied for the intermodal transport aid program administered by the EU Transport Projects Center. We have obtained €7 million in funding for the project,” says L. Nekrošius, president of LTG Cargo Polska.
