LTG Cargo Polska – a subsidiary of the cargo transportation company LTG Cargo, has planed the largest investments in Poland to date. It will be used for the diversification of activities envisaged in the company’s strategy: expansion to Western Europe, development of new and existing services and development of the technical park. The company will invest over 47 million Euros in Poland within two-three years.
In the near future, part of the investment will be directed to the purchase of four multi-system and two diesel locomotives. Multi-system locomotives will be diverted to electrified sections of routes in Poland, and diesel locomotives will be operated on the not yet electrified railway section near the Lithuanian border. Along with the locomotives, 6 new wagon sets will be purchased to transport trailers and containers.
“The Polish market is extremely competitive, with lots of operators there. We will concentrate the technical park in Poland both by purchasing and renting rolling stock – in this way we will ensure the speed of development, will increase the intensity of international trips and increase the efficiency of cargo transportation. We are a road transport country with a large share of freight being transported between East and West. Therefore, in order to expand railway services in Lithuania, it is important to focus on the Polish market and thus open new opportunities for our customers. In the West, intermodal freight transportation is already highly developed, so we see great potential in this market. In the coming years, we plan to start transporting cargo to intermodal terminals in Poland, Italy and Germany,” says Eglė Šimė, head of LTG Cargo.
According to her, more than 100 million people live in this “strip” of Europe. Direct rail transportation to Western Europe will open new opportunities for the companies LTG Cargo and LTG Cargo Polska, as well as for other Lithuanian freight forwarders and will contribute to the ambitious goals of the European green course.
In 2022, while expanding its operations, LTG Cargo Polska also intends to grow its team in Poland – it is expected to have employees in about 50 different logistics areas by the end of the year.
It is reminded that in the middle of January the company LTG Cargo announced about two locomotives leased for international operations, which will be used to increase the volume of intermodal cargo transportation from Kaunas intermodal terminal to the Netherlands.
