LTG Cargo launch a new intermodal connection between Kaunas in Lithuania and Sławków in Poland

In February, LTG Cargo, the freight transportation company of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai Group (Lithuanian Railways Group), will launch an intermodal freight train to transport containers between Kaunas Intermodal Terminal and Sławków in Poland. The terminal, which is situated close to Katowice, is an important hub of Poland’s broad gauge railway network, which connects the railway lines between Lithuania and Poland and Ukraine and Poland. Freight trains also run regularly from this terminal to Schwarze in Germany, to Maddaloni in Italy, to Koper in Slovenia and to Gdansk in Poland.

LTG Cargo started transporting coal to Poland by rail

Lietuvos geležinkeliai Group’s freight company LTG Cargo has started transporting coal on the basis of an order made by the Polish state coal importer. The cargo will be transported in special containers from Klaipėda seaport to Trakiškės, then LTG Cargo Polska will ensure transportation to Białystok, and from there the partners will transport coal to Branew in North-West Poland.

LTG Cargo pilot train departs for Ukraine

Ukrainian citizens will be able to travel by train in Lithuania free of charge

In response to the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine and in order to help people fleeing the horrors of the war, the companies of the Lithuanian Railways (“Lietuvos geležinkeliai” – LTG) group are starting to provide assistance. The passenger transportation company LTG Link from March 1 offered Ukrainian citizens free transportation on local routes in Lithuania. Ukrainian citizens wishing to use the free transportation will only need to present the Ukrainian passport or identity card, children – the birth certificate.
